Our organization is trying to track opportunities/revenue back to campaigns. Problem is that salesforce sometimes assigns an opp to the wrong campaign, or not at all. I'd like to be able to correct it. The FAQ states that you can assign the "Primary Campaign Source" when you create/edit an opportunity. However, this field is missing.
Using the Layout Editor, I've added that field to the Opportunity Layout. I saved the layout and made sure it was the default layout for me (administrator). However, it just doesn't show up when I view/edit/create an opportunity.
Why might this be?

Check the field level security for the field, I think it's hidden by default.
Setup | Customize | Opportunities | Fields. Select Primary Campaign Resource, then the Set Field Level Security button.

I was having the same problem with the "Parent Campaign" field on the Campaign layout. Setting the field level security fixed it. So double thanks.
