Mutli Currency and Existing Opportunities

I am having a problem understanding how to migrate an existing opportunity to use a new ISO currency value both in the UI and the API.  Here is what I have done:

First, I created new standard price entries in the Pricebook Entry Table for the currency codes that I wanted in our existing pricebook.  I then added new entries into the Existing price book with the new currency codes and pricing values that I wanted in the existing pricebook.  This all worked flawlessly.

My issue now is that I want to change existing opportunities that are using our default USD ISO code to a new value, in this case EUR.  I am not able to get this option in the UI and have not been able to adjust this with the Excel Connector by changing the ISO code or the pricebook value.  I have been able to create new opportunities with the existing pricebook and EUR currency option.  I have also been able to switch to change the opportunitiy to use another pricebook (removing products) and updating to the EUR currency code.

Is it possible to change the currency code on existing opportunities?  Any help is appreciated and I am very sorry if this explanation is terse, I am happy to elaborate as needed.

Did you ever figure this out? I am having the same problem. Do you need to import a different currency code through the API?

I wish, we are actually putting this project on hold as it will require all of our international sales reps, to go in and recreate their renewals and exising opportunities one by one.  If you get any traction on this or if  are able to figure this out please report back!

I actually went through this a couple weeks ago.  As long as no products have been added you can change the currency.  If you have the currency field available on the opportunity you can do it through the UI.  Otherwise, just pull the opportunities down via the Dataloader or other reporting tool and then update the currency. 

If you figure out a workaround to the currency being locked when a product is added, le3t me know, I'm searching for that right now.

I actually tried to update the opportunity directly with the Excel Connector but could not get it to work.  I assume that is because of the products being added.  So in your workaround, were you able to export the opportunities with product, delete them, and then do an import?  Sorry if I misunderstood.
