Logging in as another user

As an admin, I see that I can log in as other users.  I do this from Setup -> Administration Setup -> Users screen.  I see a list of users that contains a checkbox, and then actions including "Edit" and "Login".  Clicking Login will log me in as that user.

My question is why do some of the users say login next to them and some don't?  It doesn't appear to be by role, because some of the people listed as "Inside Sales" have the Login option and some don't.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Logging in as another user

Jeeper,

In order for you to login as a given user they have to have given you explicit permission.

They'd do that by going through the following steps:

  * Login to Salesforce.com (http://login.salesforce.com)
  * Go to "Setup" (top right)
  * Click on "My Personal Information"
  * Click on "Grant Login Access"
  * There are two boxes.  The bottom one is where they would grant you (their administrator) access.  The other is for granting login access to Salesforce Support.

I hope this helps!

p.s. There are a couple of Ideas on the IdeaExchange for making this more global.  Wish I had URLs to give you so you could promote them, but I don't.  Sorry!

Re: Logging in as another user

Thanks for your reply!  I have users that say "I can't see certain things under my account" and instead of trapsing to their desk, it's easier for me to check this way.

I'll have them do the updates!

Thanks again!
