How to mass update account products

Previously products withn our accounts could be entered manually. we now have thousands of products that can not be sorted properly. I am renaming these products to simplify things.

I have exported a CSV report of accounts with assets/products. I now want to import this file to update product names, description, etc. Is this possible?

Is there a best practice for this update? If so can you please lend some input. Thanks in advance!

Have you considered using the EXCEL Connector?  Check out the Excel Connector board here.

The other possibility is to use the Data Loader.
