In email2case, the only filter is for the subject line - I would like to have an option to filter out emails that are not from customers. This would both reduce the load on the support desk, and virtually eliminate spam... If an email from someone that isn't a Contact or Lead comes in, it should not cause a Case to be opened but should result in a friendly email pointing then to the web site or forums instead.
However, it doesn't look like it's possible to do without some serious code changes inside the Java code - has anyone done something like this?
A less elegant workaround would be to write a workflow rule that looks for cases of Origin Email and without a Contact associated - it could simply close such cases and generate the automated email response. Perhaps this will have to do, even if it does mess up my case stats somewhat
How do you deal with this issue?
Cheers,
Allan
