Accounting for in-kind contributions through SalesForce

Our nonprofit gets a fairly significant number of in-kind donations--clothing, toys, car seats, as well as other kinds of donated labor.--and we are wondering if there is a good way to track these in SalesForce.  I could not find an appropriate "donation type" or "payment" type in the "donations" tab.  Has anyone found this or do you have a good way of configuring this?  For auditing purposes, some of the things we believe we need to record are:
-product or service description
-new or used
-quantity
-total value
-basis for calculation
-date of receipt
-end-use

Thank you!

Re: Accounting for in-kind contributions through SalesForce

Hi Elissa,

You can develop another donation record type. Something that you will need to think about - create the connections/links that make data input easy when you have this new record type.

Good Luck!

contact me if your org is interested in online training to walk through this or any other issue.
