I sent out a HTML mass email a couple of days ago to about 75 email addresses. It looks like 20 of them had picked them up and the rest of them have 0's for open. Is there a more effective way to get people to pick up the messages? It seems my emails might be landing in the junk email folder.

First, note that the Email Tracking in Salesforce takes place by tracking downloads of a 1x1 pixel image that is embeded in your outgoing emails, so if the recipient's email either blocks or does not automatically load images then it will not register when they open the email (reference the solution 'How does Salesforce Track HTML Emails?' in the SF Help & Training). It is possible your emails are being recieved but just are not recorded.....
Couple things you could try:
1. If possible, turn on Email Relaying (you will need to request that Support activate this feature for your org) -- basically SF sends the email to your email server which relays the email to the recipient, thus the email is actually coming from your email server and may not be as likely to get sent to junk mail or be blocked by a spam filter.
This may ensure more of your emails are recieved, but if the issue is that the recipient's email is not loading SF's tracking image you still may not have an accurate record of who recieved your email.
2. Search "Email" on appexchange.com and see if some of the apps there would better suit your needs. Many of these have more robust tracking capabilities as well.
