Opening Gmail in a new Tab instead of Window.

Does anyone know how to open up gmail links in Salesforce in a new tab instead of a new window?

The only fix I have found so far is using the html version of gmail for the tab url.  You lose some Gmail functionality though.

How would you open Gmail in an HTML tab?  Please detail.

Re: Opening Gmail in a new Tab instead of Window.

You have to add a new tab in salesforce by clicking the arrow to the right of all your tabs, then "customize my tabs" at the far right, then under "app setup: click  create > tabs.  Click "new" next to "custom object tabs" then on the last page where you put the url, you can add the gmail url.  If you don't use the old version of Gmail though for the url, it will result in the issue everyone is complaining about.

hope this helps.  I'm still hoping for a fix though but saleforce tech support has none so far.

Two questions:

1) Where do I put the URL?

2) How do I know if this is the old or newer Gmail service?

It's the last step in the process in the box titled "Button or Link URL" -- as far as the url, just open your gmail in a new window and at the bottom there should be a link that says "html version" or "older version" - something like that.  Then paste that url in the "button or link url" box.

Sorry to bother you on this, but perhaps since I have Group Edition, I can't see this.  Is that true?

Would love to speak to you to resolve this, if possible. Sam 305-770-3481 // 877-427-6337

could be, I'm not a salesforce tech, just another user like you (and new one at that).  I'm sure Salesforce support could help more than I could.
