Mass Edit on Accounts no longer appearing

When I create a view for an opportunity or any custom object we have the ability to do a mass edit of the results of the view.

We used to have this ability on Accounts, but we introduced Record Types last week and now we do not have the mass edit check boxes appearing for our users.  We are going through a mass re-organization of our fields and would really like to know the best way to go forward to have the mass edit ability on Accounts again.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Mass Edit on Accounts no longer appearing

  1. If your organization uses record types, you must include a record type filter for a single record type in the List View criteria. Inline editing only works on lists that are filtered on a single record type (for example, Record Type EQUALS Business Account, or Record Type EQUALS <blank> for records that don't have a record type). Also note that inline editing from a list will not work if there are any "OR" filters in conjunction with a record type filter (that is, if a record type filter is present, all list filters must be joined by an "AND").
    • NOTE: Just having one record type in displayed records will not enable inline editing, you must identify a single record type inn the List View criteria. If you do not have permission to edit the list criteria, contact your System Administrator.

Re: Mass Edit on Accounts no longer appearing

I have created account view lists with a single record type listed in the filter criteria.  I only have 2 filter criteria listed, and they are linked with an "AND".  I cannot edit single boxes in the list view, nor do I have mass edit abilities via the check box in the left hand column.  I have all of these abilities in contacts, but none in accounts.  I am a system admin, but cannot find any way of enabling these options.  Any thoughts on why I do not have this?  I would also like to have this ability in my Activities list view that I access from the home page.
