transfering opportunites and contacts

we have admin/data entry people who have SF licenses that enter much of our SF data including contacts and opportunities.  this means they become the "owner" ofthe contact and/or opportunity.  I know there is a mass transfer for accounts but is there any way to mass transfer contacts or opportunties?

Hi, hoping that it's  not too late to answer on your question.

Yes, you can transfer records from one owner to another owner.

Go to Set Up(on the top of your salesforce page)

Administration Set Up-left side on your screen

Select, Mass Transfer Records

You will be opening detail page for Mass Transfer Records

In look up window find existing owner and then owner to whom you are going to transfer records

Criteria needs to be set up-look for date, industry...to match records with criteria

Hit Find

Select all records what you would like to transfer and hit Transfer button.

Your answer appears to be incorrect.  You cannot transfer opportunities or contacts using the method you describe.  Only Accounts and Leads can be transferred.  Is there a way to transfer contacts and opportunities?

yes, there is a way to do:

Set Up

Admin Set Up

Data Managment

Mass Transfer Records

Transfer Accounts(accounts mean opportunites, contacts...)

No, that doesn't work.  That only transfers accounts, not opportunities and contacts.  It will transfer all opportnities and contacts that belong to a particular account, but only if they also are owned by the account owner.  There's no way to bulk transfer contacts or opportunities independent of accounts.

Sorry, I misunderstood your question, have you tried Help.Or your salesforce account manager...

The only solution seems to be to bulk export, change in Excel and bulk import using Apex Data Loader.

that was my understanding once i pursued this with SF support .  i was hoping somebody figured out a hack.  seems like a major application oversight from a work-flow perspective
