comments on documents in the customer portal

Customers have the ability to post comments on the content (documents) in the customer portal. However, when a comment is posted on a document, no one is notified. I thought I read that the author of the document would be notified, but now I can't find any documentation on this. Can someone please help me? If someone comments on a document w/in content/workspaces in the customer portal, how do we ensure the document owner gets an email notification?
