Split Opportunity Credit (Two Reps from Different Territories)

Has anyone run across a situation where they have two sales reps from two different territories working the same opportunity, but only one territory is to get credit for the sale?  In other words how do we give credit for the sale to one territory, but also give credit to a rep from a different territory?

Thank you

When you mean credit are you saying roll-up to the forecast or more reporting on the Opportunity. If you want reports generated to understand what Opportunities have two reps to ensure they both get credit then you can use Opportunitity Teams, where you add the other rep as a member then you can run a report with Opportunities with Teams, etc.

dpelusi, you may be interested in a Pilot feature for Winter '09 called Opportunity Splitting.  You can find more information in the Release Preview - http://www.salesforce.com/community/winter09_admins.jsp?acco=0.  As stated in the Release Preview, you will need to contact Support to have this feature activated.  There's also the related Idea on the IdeaExchange - http://ideas.salesforce.com/article/show/41050.

Thanks for the response, we are mainly looking for the forecast/revenue to roll-up to the correct region and manager.

If you are concerned just about the forecast then could you do the following;

1. The Rep to get Credit/Roll-Up to Forecast would be Opportunity Owner with their territory

2. The Secondary Rep would just be added to the Selling Team

Would that work?

Re: Split Opportunity Credit (Two Reps from Different Territories)

Then to give credit to the other rep you would generate a Opportunity with Sales Team report, which would not effect the forecast.

Using Selling Teams is exactly the solution designed for having (1) Forecast but with many contributors to that given Opportunity.

We called this "Support Selling" and ran reports monthly to acknowledge those that were part of the program.

However, with Selling Teams you rely on the Reps to set it up correctly therefore you may have to find a program that would promote these types of opportunities in order to be effective.

Re: Split Opportunity Credit (Two Reps from Different Territories)

I just set up Opportunity Splitting and want to create a dashboard report for the individual sales rep that shows a count of their sales for the year. The Opportunity split however, seems to only be a percentage. So I have a sales rep with 1.5 sales, and that's what I'm trying to show on the dashboard - 1.5 sales, not 150%. Do I need to create a formula field to count the sale properly (1 record x 50%), or is there a way to get the dashboard to show it correctly?
