Required fields Custom Object

We created a custom object, initially setting some of the fields to required. We no longer wish for them to be required. We later unchecked the box "Always require a value in this field in order to save a record", but the field is still showing as required. HELP. Thanks.

Did you do this on both the Field Itself as well as the pagelayout? You need to do it in both locations. It sounds like you did it at the field level, however did you check the page layout? If you go on the pagelayout and right click the field it will come up with a box that says Read Only and Required with Check Boxes, you need to make sure the one next to Required is Unchecked.

Try that! If that does not work maybe there is some type of validation rule on the field. You can check that as well.

Yeah it was field level security that was the problem, also thanks for the help with creating the custom object in the first place for Assets it is working great for us.
