Link between leads and orders

Hi Community members.
 
I am new in this community and got an issue about connecting Leads from SFDC to orders in SAP.
 
What is the best practice to do it? Today there is no direct link between our sales orders and leads, what is the best way to say that this order came from this lead?
 
Any example from your experiance will be most helpful.
