Lead Assignments Based on Campaign Name

I'm trying to create a lead assignment rule based on the name of the campaign it came from. Our campaigns have a naming convention that is followed and this would be an easy way for me to assign leads this way but I cant get it to work for the life of me and its driving me crazy! Someone please help

In the Lead Assignment Rules setup you can select Campaign Name as one of the criteria - is that not working for you?  Is the criteria not firing the rule or something else?

Hello, yes I can see campaign fields when I create/edit the assignment rule and include it in my criteria but its not triggering the rule. I also tried a formula and tested other fields on the campaign (such as campaign owner) and still not triggering the rule. 

Have you been able to a create lead assignment rule based on anything other than lead data?

How is the campaign member created - is the campaign id passed via hidden field on a web to lead form or from another method?

Hello, a combination of web to lead and imports.

The ones I am testing against are already in the sysetm but are unassigned so I am editing them and selecting "Assign using active assignment rule" but any rules I created based on campaign fields are not triggering.

Thanks for the info - so the problem is that you can't fire the assignment rules on existing campaigns of the lead, only the campaign passed via Web to Lead or the Import Wizards.

There's a field on Lead called Campaign, which is a funky field - if you put the CampaignID in this field & save the lead, a new campaign member will be created.  Only when you use this field do the assignment rules grab the campaign information for lead assignment.

Try to test again using "Assign using Active Assignment Rule", but before saving add a new CampaignID to the campaign field & test if that campaign's info is used as criteria.  It should work.

For background, the reason existing campaigns don't fire the criteria are that if the lead already has more than 1 campaign, the rule wouldn't know which campaign to use.
