Help with 'Converted Status' On Leads

I am helping out another vertical of our organization with their new rollout of SFDC and I have questions about the Converted Status field when converting leads. I am unable to find where this field can be edited as it auto defaults to qualified status. I'd like to add unqualied. Is this possible? I've checked the page layouts and all custom fields and converted status isn't included. Anyone have any ideas?

muchos gracias mi amigos!

Re: Help with 'Converted Status' On Leads

Not sure if this helps.  We do not convert a lead if it is 'unqualified'.   For us, conversion equals qualified.  We use an 'unqualified' field to our lead status picklist.

LarryH - the field name is actually "Lead Status". On the Convert Lead screen, the "Lead Status" field is shown with a field name of "Converted Status". Bad design by Salesforce.

Re: Help with 'Converted Status' On Leads

You can designate another option in the picklist values for Lead Status field to be converted other than "Qualified." We created a Lead Status value of "Convert to Contact" and checked the box that says "Converted". This way we can move leads over and associate them with accounts as contacts and check the "Do not create a new opportunity" box upon converting so that they are not picked up in the report on Qualified Leads. When you convert the lead the drop down will give you the option of Qualified or Convert to Contact.
