Field History Tracking

Why can't I have a custom object track field history?  I have enabled it on the object and selected the fields.  It shows with a related list but no data appears.

Is there something about Master-Detail vs lookup to this?

Thanks

Re: Field History Tracking

What field history are you trying to track? Custom Object field history? or related Object field history?

Which objects are involved, and what is their relationship to each other?

Re: Field History Tracking

Tracking custom fields in custom object.  the custom object is detail to Account which is master.

I have the related list with data but i cannot find the report that usually comes with history tracking.

Re: Field History Tracking

Where are you looking for the report?  It might be under "Other Reports" in the Report Data Type option.

Which edition of SFDC are you using?  I'm using EE, and I have Field History Reports for several different custom objects (both Master-Detail and Lookup relationships)

Re: Field History Tracking

I've looked in all the report folders just in case.  When i asked SFDC support for assistance, they said the history report is not available for Master-Detail but that just doesn't make sense.

I'm running EE and have other history reports - just not this one!

very very odd

Re: Field History Tracking

I just double checked, and you're right.  With Master-Detail relationships you lose Custom Child Object Field History Reports.
